His Excellency Mr Edwin HARRIS Jr, Director General of the Intergovernmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA), paid a courtesy visit on Wednesday 29th of October 2025 to the ECOWAS Gender Development Centre(EGDC), based in Dakar, Senegal.
Welcoming the delegation, Ms. Sandra OULATÉ FATTOH, Director of the Centre, expressed her deep gratitude to the Director General for his visionary leadership and constant support for the EGDC’s initiatives. She highlighted the symbolic and strategic significance of this visit, which demonstrates GIABA’s interest in strengthening institutional capacities and pooling efforts within the framework of the Dakar pooling initiative.
Ms OULATÉ FATTOH also introduced the Centre’s team, drawing attention to the acute shortage of human resources, which is a major challenge to the full execution of the EGDC’s missions.
In response, the Director General of GIABA reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to supporting the Centre in achieving its objectives, in particular through support for staff reinforcement and other strategic priorities.
In a spirit of cooperation and institutional solidarity, Mr. HARRIS encouraged the creation of an inclusive and supportive working environment conducive to staff development, a condition essential, in his view, to ensure the performance and sustainability of the Centre’s actions.
