THE ECOWAS CENTRE FOR GENDER DEVELOPMENT (CCDG) RECEIVES THE VISIT OF THE ECOWAS DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM (ITS) FOR A TECHNICAL WORKING VISIT

The ECOWAS Gender Development Centre (EGDC) received from 1 to 5 June 2025, the Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) of the ECOWAS Commission for a technical working visit. This visit, conducted in collaboration with the EGDC’s partners and suppliers (Sonatel, Com Un Service, Humanics), was part of a dynamic of evaluation, modernization and security of the EGDC’s IT architecture. The long-term objective of this visit is to contribute to the strengthening of the operational capacities and administrative compliance of the EGDC.

The challenge of this visit was to identify the necessary actions to be taken to enable the EGDC to have an IT architecture aligned with current ECOWAS standards in order to allow its staff to evolve in an optimal IT environment.

This technical working visit mobilized the EGDC and ITS Directors, the Webmaster of the ECOWAS Commission, the IT Unit of the EGDC, the firm Humanics which supports the EGDC in the revitalization of its digital ecosystem as well as Com Un Services in charge of the maintenance of the CCDG’s IT stock and Sonatel for the provision of the internet connection.

Mrs. Sandra OULATÉ FATTOH, Director of the EGDC, in her introductory remarks stressed that this support working visit of Mr. Korona FOFANA, ITS Director, marks the start of the overall modernization of the Centre’s infrastructure. She pointed out that this approach is the realization of the ambitions to bring them up to standard, including the in-depth restructuring of the local network, the digital ecosystem as well as the renewal of furniture and the acquisition of advanced technological devices. Finally, she highlighted the strategic importance of partnerships, recalling that the EGDC is one of the major beneficiaries of the Spanish Cooperation support program, through AECID, which reinforces the viability of this common ambition.

Mr. Korona FOFANA, ITS Director, expressed his sincere thanks to the Director of the EGDC while underlining the in-depth work carried out upstream, in particular through several interventions on the servers and the development of technical offers adapted to the realities of the Center. He recalled that this visit is part of the Commission’s desire to support the EGDC in the deployment of its strategic modernization agenda, and then welcomed the commitment of the partners (Sonatel and Com Un Service). He concluded by reaffirming his availability to support the EGDC in upgrading its IT architecture to current standards to enable the Centre to fully fulfil its mission and achieve its sustainable development objectives.

This visit made it possible to assess the ITS architecture of the EGDC and to identify the priority actions to be implemented to secure, modernize and align the Centre’s digital infrastructure with the standards of the ECOWAS Commission.

As a reminder, this technical working visit is part of the new dynamic of the EGDC to be part of a culture of absolute performance inspired by its 2023-2027 strategic framework which is based on four (4) strategic pillars: (1) CCDG governance system, (2) legal and political-institutional frameworks, (3) Economic empowerment and empowerment of women and girls,  (4) Partnership for Financing Gender Equality). These four (4) strategic pillars are aligned with the ECOWAS Vision 2050: “One ECOWAS of the People. Peace and prosperity for all.”
